VUmc Department of Medical Humanities

"The VUmc Department of Medical Humanities seeks to contribute to a just and inclusive society, and to the improvement of health care. To this end, we explore current ethical, social and political issues in dialogue with the recipients of care, relatives, healthcare professionals, and managers. By doing so, we want to make a lasting connection between experiential, professional, scientific, and moral knowledge.
Through long-term involvement in caregiving practice, including observation, reflections on our own views, and direct cooperation and exchange with all stakeholders, we strive to achieve lasting improvements in practice. Shared ownership of the research approach and results is therefore very important, both ideologically and methodically. All these elements can be found in the WAVE project.”
