"Collaborative healthcare teams can build on previous experiences and practices within their organization or location to devise practical solutions to behavioral problems.
If the environment is tense, it is more difficult to find such solutions. Doctors caring for the disabled are often pressured to prescribe psychopharmaceuticals, at least as a stopgap solution. Many doctors struggle with this, especially now that the negative effects of long-term drug treatment have become clear.
We believe that participating in WAVE helps researchers to recognize these processes and reflect on their role in maximizing the effectiveness of the teams in which they work. The goal is to adapt guidance and treatment to the client’s needs, instead of the other way around."
